Did you know --
Zena Recreation Park was incorporated on July 7th, 1975. That makes us 43 years old (though we don't look a day over 29!)
Why Zena? Zena Recreation Park was named for the small hamlet of Zena that we are part of in the southeast corner of the Town of Woodstock, NY. At only 3.0 square miles, and a population of about 1,000, our hamlet encompasses the signature woods, fields, streams, and lakes that define the landscapes iconic to the Catskill Mountain region.
Zena -- is a greek word meaning Born of Zeus! How awesome is that? Zeus is the sky and thunder god in ancient Greek religion. He ruled as the King of the gods of Mount Olympus. Zena also means welcoming, hospitable, and friendly! An apt description of our community in every sense of the word.
